After a resurgence of my long-standing depression and anxiety disorders contributed to me gaining 30+lbs, I finally decided enough was enough and I am now working on getting back control. Working out not only helps me physically, but mentally as well. In less then 1 month I went from struggling with 5lb weights to doing over 200 reps with 10lb weights, easily completing 200 squats, and walking for a solid 3 hours without pain. I am eating well and feeling so much happier.IYAMHEALTHY
Every morning I have a smoothie with a banana, strawberries, oats and soy milk. The oats help keep me full until lunch time and the natural sugars from the strawberries gives me a little boost. I do my best to walk as often as I can and I try to take the stairs whenever possible. Also, when I am watching T.V. or am on the phone or doing something else that leaves my hands free I do stretching or lift light weights (2kg each) just to keep my muscles moving!
With all this I can say IYAMHEALTHY!
I play RPG/role-playing video games a lot and have noticed some extra weight coming on. Since I don’t own any motion or exercise games, I made up some rules. Save points and autosaves get 10 pushups, cutscenes get jumping jacks (until the scene’s over–so don’t play MGS4!), and game overs get 20 pushups. It’s a race to see if my exhaustion will outstrip my desire for story advancement.
I kept getting the flu, about 3-4 times a year, and for 1-2 weeks at a time. Finally decided to work off the extra weight (about 40lbs) to see how much of a difference that would make. I play soccer 2-3 times a week first thing in the morning with some people from work; at lunch and other break times I’ll do calisthenics. I started with handstand holds, then handstand pushups, to strengthen my shoulders, chest, and back so I could do other exercises easier. I feel better already. IYAMHEALTHY
I always had a difficult time to get myself to exercise, always feeling tired when coming home from work. Even exercising at home didn’t work. So I made a pact with myself, got a pedometer and decided that if I had walked 10 000 steps or more when I got home at the end of the work day, I could skip exercising. After five weeks I am stronger,a bit slimmer and actually wants to do other kinds of exercises as well! IYAMHEALTHY
