I have always been too skinny for my age and height (115lbs and 5’8″ for all of high school), in part because of a deformed jaw, but then I took a weight training class at college. I got my freshman fifteen, and most of it was muscle! While I’m not nearly as strong as some of my classmates, I tripled the weight I was able to lift! IYAMHEALTHY

I wanted to work on my arm strength, and since I have a daily habit of checking my youtube subscriptions I decided to combine both by lifting some weights while I check out my videos. I’ve gained a small, but fair amount of muscles because of that over the course of several weeks. IYAMHEALTHY

Two and a half years ago, I made the decision to take up Martial Arts not only to get into better shape but to help give my self-esteem a much needed boost. I was a mess to say the least! After years of extensive training and self-discipline I not only have earned my Black Belt but gained almost 15 pounds of muscle, run 5-10 miles 3 times a week, haven’t used my asthma medication once in over a year and gained the confidence I was always lacking. I am the only girl in my gym’s weight room. I am surrounded by big bulky men and while I was intimidated before- I turn heads now. I can deadlift twice my own body weight and I’ve lost 80lbs in the last year working hard at it. Never underestimate what women can do! IYAMHEALTHY!

I’ve been trying to lose weight since I was 8 but never found the motivation to exercise. I started seeing a personal trainer and he introduced me to weight lifting. I’m 40lbs down, squatting over 100lbs for the first time in my life, and I feel great! IYAMHEALTHY
